In the News

Robyn has always enjoyed choir, and it's fun that she could be in her school choir here, especially with such a nice director.  When we first came, Myles thought it would be a fun way for her to learn some German.  We haven't heard a German song yet.  So far, English, African, French...  She got to sing the solo like this boy in this French song here to celebrate the 50-year friendship between Germany and France at her school with exchange students from France.  It was beautiful!  My only regret was that I didn't have our camera to video it or at least take a pic.  Then, a couple days later, our neighbors brought over this  newspaper, and I had a pic!  Myles thinks it's funny that they chose the only American to sing the French-German friendship solo.

Since then, we got to drive along the French German border when we picked up my bro, Mike, from the Basel, Switzerland airport.  We got to stay in a hotel in Germany overlooking Switzerland and France. Pics. to come.

These Magic Moments

Looking back at all the pics. we have from the last month, it's way too overwhelming to think about "getting caught up," so I decided to choose just a few magical moments to savor.  This Christmas break, we were able to do mommy daughter and daddy daughter dates.  This spur of the moment one was one of the best.  While I was painting Macy's nails in her bedroom, Carly was getting a restaurant ready for us, complete with place cards, straws in our special drinks, and a candle.  It was really sweet.   Other dates included going swimming, to the movies, and rock climbing.

I found this one on our camera and thought it was neat that one of the girls captured it, probably when I was still sleeping.

This was a fun time of jamming!

Our friends from Mexico joined us in singing Christmas carols and other songs in Spanish, English, and German.  I loved it that they were so happy making music with us amateurs even though the wife is a professional cellist and the husband is a professional opera singer.

I wish I would've had a video camera going when I showed up with my bro. "Big Mike" to pick up Macy from school.  She literally ran to him and gave him a huge hug.

Although this pic. is a bit blurry, it captures the feeling of awe Carly (and all the kids have) of their awesome uncle.  Here she is wearing his backpack and truly looking up to him.  We're so glad he came for a few days and that he gets to come back in a couple weeks after some more traveling.
