Go, Goldy, Go, Goldy, Go, Goldy, Go!

Goldy, our goldfish, our first family pet, is not doing so well. She doesn't move for hours, and I think she's really gone, but then she'll start moving again. I always thought fish just died. I didn't think they'd hold on for so long. I also didn't think I'd ever be sad, either. Carly made her a get well card and propped it up against her bowl so she could see it. I guess we'll see.

Does anyone have any advice on what you can do?

I meant for that title to be a cheer for her to live, but for her sake, it's probably better if she can just go!

Looks like its time for that special FHE that tells about the plan and then ends with a... flush.

Ok a few thoughts on Goldy. This whole post seems a little fishy so I am going to offer some prespective on the matter.
1.She is a Goldy but not an oldy (so its not her time yet)
2. Humm she wont move for a while? Sounds like those are symptons of a fish who is sleeping.
3. Can someone get a fish a fish mate? You try to live in solitary confinment 24/7 and see what it does to you.I suggest that you get her a Beta friend and see if that does not awaken her fighting spirit
4. Call Papa Robins if memory serves he has been down this road before and may have some advise.
5. Goldy is not a "carnaval fish" he was bought at a store and she is a quality catch so lets get some PETCO management involved.
6. I hope this out of the box thinking keeps Goldy out of his box in the ground.

I love your brothers' comments! They are hilarious! So... I believe this SAME thing happened to a friend with a fish a while back. The fish never died, just did that all the time: faked dead, just like Goldy appears to do. It was the wierdest thing but they learned that they had no ordinary fish through the whole experience. I'm trying to remember who it was so I can refer you to them, but I believe the fish lived on for a very long and prosperous life, just a little "different" from the rest... a little "fishy (er)" When I remember who it was I'll let you know. We'll pray for Goldy! :)

We had a goldfish when we lived in Provo. The kids ironically namer her Goldy too. She did the same thing where I thought she was dead but she would hang on -- this lasted an awful 5 weeks until she finally died. It was torture for the kids. Cord kept telling me just to flush her while the kids were at school to put them and Goldie out of misery. But I couldn't.

Good luck. I love that Carly made her a get well card -- so sweet!
